Sports Day

Dear Parents,

One of the most exciting events of the spring term, Sports Day, is fast approaching. The children have been preparing during their PE and Outdoor Games lessons and we would like to invite you to come along and support the young learners with lots of enthusiasm and your loudest cheers!  Our music department put together a roaring drum presentation and an entertaining dance routine that will be performed by our fabulous students. After the performance, the students will take the field and compete in various events such as the kangaroo jump, carry-the-water, the long jump, a relay race, and a 100-meter race.  The students will first compete as individuals and then as teams.  They will then be given gold, silver, bronze and participation award medals as prizes.

Sports Day will be held on Saturday May 10th, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Due to the Beijing Auto show at the China International Exhibition Center we have postponed our third annual SIBS Sorts Day to May 10th. It is reported that roads in Shunyi and the Jingcheng Expressway will be delayed or possibly closed severely delaying traffic and access to our campus.

Sports Day Details:

▲ Event Day and Time - May 10th, 2014 / 9:00 a.m. to 11:30a.m.

▲ The school bus service will be available for students to and from the event. Your bus monitor will contact you for the pick-up time for the occasion.

▲ Children should come to school on Sports Day in their uniforms that were previously purchased for the event.

▲ The girls will wear their skirts for their performance and then change into shorts for the athletic events.

▲ In anticipation of hot, sunny weather (fingers crossed!), please ensure that your child brings a water bottle.

▲ If you wish your child to wear sunscreen then please ensure that this is applied before they come to school.

▲ Kindergarten parents are required to accompany their children that day. Parents of other grades are also welcome to move around with your child. However, the children must remain with their class or team at all times. To ensure the children’s safety, it is imperative to remember that under no circumstances can they leave the playing field. You will be able to collect your child at 11:30 pm.

We look forward to seeing you at the SIBS third annual Sports Day to support the children as they participate in this fun and enjoyable event.

Yours sincerely,

Gary Dimitratos
